Border Trust's Bushfire Relief Fund has now closed, raising $112,000 to support affected communities.

Border Trust's Bushfire Relief Fund has now closed, raising $112,000 to support affected communities.

"It's really clear that the events of the summer deeply touched those living in our region, with local people digging in to support the fund in any way they could", said Grace Churches, Border Trust's Chair. "We were also really surprised and inspired by national and international donations. It spoke to us about how we are all so connected and that has become even more evident over recent weeks".

To distribute the funds, Border Trust will open a unique Bushfire Relief Grant Program on June 1 with the priority focus on long-term recovery through:

  • Health & wellbeing initiatives for the long-term recovery of people affected by fire
  • Programs, events and initiatives that support the development of emerging leaders in the bushfire affected areas
  • Programs that assist the regeneration of the land
  • Programs that assist animals affected by fire
  • Events and initiatives that connect bushfire affected communities

To start the granting process, a Pitch Page will be launched shortly, with the grant round opening on the 1st June 2020.

"We want to keep it as easy and accessible as possible given the current restrictions we're all living with and encourage community organizations to discuss their project ideas through the Pitch Page before they get started.

Ultimately, our message is one of thanks to all donors for their generosity and trust. We are committed to ensuring our collective efforts will have a positive impact"
