In preparation for NSW and VIC Youth week 13 – 22 April 2018, Hume Bank is proud to support one local mum’s extraordinary vision to assist the borders youth through the development of an online life skills hub, aimed at 12-25 year olds. To ensure the success of this initiative, she is seeking public support.
The up and coming website aims to be a one-stop-shop when it comes to offering online life skills and support for today’s youth with a purpose for youth to be able to live independently for today and tomorrow.
“There are so many situations the youth of today will come up against in life. This website will help support them to gain the necessary life skills needed as they transition into the real world and through their journey in life,” Shared Simone Butler.
Mission Australia’s 2017 Annual youth Survey revealed Mental Health is now the number one national concern for young people in Australia. Accompany that with the recent statistics that show almost one-third of Australian young people are unemployed or underemployed and you are right to be concerned.
Content is available in the form of helpful DIY videos and critical topics covering mental health, financial wellbeing, self-development and other various support initiatives as well links to specific websites of interest, all available in one central hub.
The website is still in its developmental stages and is being trialled at a number of schools on the border. With an official launch on the horizon, Simone is eager to see this website make a significant impact to the regions youth with the vision to go global, preceding this Simone aims to build a Homeless Youth Shelter right here on the border by 2022.
“At Hume, community is at the heart of everything we do and we recognise the importance of assisting our local youth to live independently and to get the support they need. Simone’s passion for this initiative is truly inspiring and we look forward to following her closely on this important journey,” said Andrew de Graaff, Chief Customer Officer – Hume Bank.
