The Border’s first innovation competition, the Life Tech Challenge Pitch night will showcase the top 5 finalists tonight at Hume Bank’s Olive Street flagship branch.
Guests will hear from talented entrepreneurs who will present their ideas to a judging panel of experts with the competition. The competition winner will take away $10,000 and a 12 month mentorship to bring their idea to life.
The shortlisted ideas come from a diverse range of topics including mental health, small business, kid’s obesity, pets and the elderly.
“The competition aligns our proposition and commitment to have a next generation community focus. It has been great to see so many people passionate about innovation and how they can make a big impact in the community. We have a lot of talent in our region and we’d like to celebrate that tonight” said Hume Bank Chief Executive Officer, David Marshall.
The expert judging panel includes; Jack Hurley – founder of local innovation hub Possum Works, Jennifer Weller – local business owner and Chair of Regional Development Australia, Xavier Mardling – Editor at The Border Mail and Jason Priestley – General Manager at Southern Cross Austereo.
The judges will provide mentorship to the major prize winner to help them with their idea execution. Local experts, Litton Legal are also providing mentorship to the winner.
“Technology is changing rapidly and it’s vital that Hume remains relevant to its customers by investing in digital capability and delivering banking essentials seamlessly. This challenge has allowed us to collaborate with innovative leaders and partners to help develop innovation in our region” said Mr Marshall.
