Mobile messaging services have been associated with phishing scams for some time, but a member of the public has recently contacted us. They advised us that they have been contacted by a scammer, stating they are from Hume Bank. This person wanted to confirm some "suspicious transactions" and requested account details of their Hume account.
Hume will never ask for personal or account information by text or email - customers should remain vigilant and practice caution when responding to any SMS or mobile message from individuals they do not know.
Customers should also ensure their Privacy settings on Social Media profiles are restricted to ensure personal and identifying information can not be accessed or used by unknown parties.
