FAQs

Where can I use Fitbit Pay?

Use Fitbit Pay to make purchases at any store that accepts contactless payments or pay for public transport on participating transit systems. To determine if the store accepts Fitbit Pay, look for the symbol below on the payment terminal:

How do I use the Wallet?

The Wallet section of the Fitbit app is where you add and remove payment cards for Fitbit Pay, edit a payment method, and review recent purchases. If you lose your NFC enabled Fitbit device, you can also suspend the card on your watch or tracker for added security. To open the Wallet, on the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click your profile > Tap or click your watch or tracker tile > Wallet.

How do I make a payment with Fitbit Pay?

  1. Simply hold your watch or tracker near the payment terminal to pay.
  2. If the purchase amount exceeds $200 AU, enter the PIN code for your card (not for your watch or tracker) into the payment terminal. If the payment terminal doesn’t recognise Fitbit Pay, make sure the watch or tracker face is near the reader. When paying at a store, make sure the cashier knows you're using a contactless payment. Note that for added security, you must wear your watch or tracker on your wrist to make payments with Fitbit Pay.

Do I need to have my phone nearby to use Fitbit Pay?

You don’t need to have your phone nearby to use Fitbit Pay. After you set up Fitbit Pay, you can make payments from your watch or tracker and leave
your phone at home.

Where can I see a list of transactions made with Fitbit Pay?

See your 3 most recent transactions made with Fitbit Pay in the Wallet section of the Fitbit app, or review all of your Fitbit Pay transactions on your
bank or credit card statements. To see your recent transactions in the Fitbit app:

  1. On Fitbit app dashboard, tap your profile.
  2. Tap your watch or tracker tile.
  3. Tap the Wallet tile.
  4. Find the card stored on your watch or tracker and then scroll down to see your 3 most recent transactions.

I lost my watch or tracker–can someone else use Fitbit Pay?

You must enter your personal 4-digit PIN code on your NFC enabled Fitbit device to use Fitbit Pay—either to unlock your watch or tracker after you put it back on your wrist or to authorize a payment during the point of sale (depending on how you set up the device lock). This means that no one can use your watch or tracker to make a payment without first entering the PIN code.

For more information on how to set the device lock, see “How do I set a device lock on my Fitbit watch or tracker?” When you add a card to your
Fitbit watch or tracker, the device lock will be turned on and you’ll be prompted to set a 4-digit PIN code for your watch or tracker. This means
you’ll be asked for your PIN code whenever you put your Fitbit watch or tracker on your wrist. If you wear your Fitbit watch or tracker for 24 hours,
the device lock will time out, and you’ll be prompted to enter your PIN code to authorize a payment. (Your Fitbit watch or tracker will be unlocked for the next 24 hours if the watch or tracker remains on your wrist).

If you choose to disable the device lock, you won’t be asked for your PIN code each time you put your Fitbit watch or tracker on your wrist - you’ll only be prompted to enter the PIN code the first time you make a payment since last taking off your watch or tracker. For added security, you can suspend the card on your watch or tracker in the Wallet section of the Fitbit app (even if your watch or tracker isn’t nearby). When you suspend a card, it remains stored in your Wallet, but you can’t use it to make payments with your watch or tracker. Note that you can still make payments using the physical card, so contact your bank if the card was lost or stolen.

To suspend a card:

  1. On Fitbit app dashboard, tap your profile.
  2. Tap your watch or tracker tile.
  3. Tap the Wallet tile.
  4. Swipe to find the card you want to suspend.
  5. Tap or click Suspend Card.

To reactivate the card on your watch or tracker, complete these steps and tap or click Unsuspend Card.

Hume Bank Fitbit Pay™ Terms and Conditions

Fitbit Pay allows you and additional cardholders to make payment transactions using a Hume Bank Visa Debit or Credit Card loaded onto a compatible Fitbit device at participating merchants.

Fitbit Pay provides you with an additional way to transact on your linked account.

Hume Bank Fitbit Pay™ Terms and Conditions apply each time a Hume Bank card registered on Fitbit Pay is used.

1. Agreement to these Terms and Conditions

You agree that you accept these Terms and Conditions by adding your card to Fitbit Pay.

These Terms and Conditions apply in addition to:

  • Hume Bank’s Digital Wallet Terms and Conditions;
  • Relevant Terms and Conditions available in Hume Bank’s Product Disclosure Statement;
  • Fees & Charges – Personal Credit cards
  • Terms, Conditions, Fees & Charges for Hume Bank’s Visa Debit Card; and
  • Conditions of Use – Personal and Business Credit Cards.

2. Fitbit Pay provided by Fitbit

Fitbit Pay is provided by Fitbit, not by Hume Bank.

Hume Bank is not liable for the use, functionality or availability of Fitbit Pay, any Fitbit Device or any disruption caused from the availability of contactless merchant terminals or reduced service levels caused by the failure of telecommunications networks.

You must agree to Fitbit's terms and conditions in order to register and use Fitbit Pay.

3. Using your Hume Bank Card with Fitbit Pay

Your card can be registered with Fitbit Pay to make contactless payments at participating retailers.

To add your card, you must follow the procedures provided by Hume Bank. In doing so, we may require you to adequately identify yourself via a variety of mechanisms to authenticate your request to register your card with Fitbit Pay. If we cannot authenticate your request to our satisfaction or if we suspect that there may be attempted fraud, we may decline the request to add your card to Fitbit Pay.

Once your card is registered with Fitbit Pay, you can use your Fitbit Device and its security settings (such as passcode or biometric data) to authorise transactions on your account.

You need to select your card as the default card in your Digital Wallet to ensure your card is used to complete a transaction. The transaction limits that apply to your card do not change as a result of adding it to Fitbit Pay.

You will be issued with a Device Account Number to process Fitbit Payments. The Device Account Number identifies your Hume Bank Card in order to use Fitbit Pay. A partially masked Device Account Number will be provided on the receipt provided by the merchant. Each time an eligible card is added to Fitbit Pay, the Scheme Provider will issue a new Device Account Number. Fitbit Pay requests a token from the Scheme Provider to authorise transactions using your Device Account Number.

Fitbit Pay may not be accepted outside of Australia, or at all places where your Hume Bank Card is accepted.

4. Suspension or Termination of Fitbit Pay

Hume Bank may suspend or terminate your use of Fitbit Pay if:

  • your card is cancelled, blocked or suspended;
  • you breach these Terms and Conditions, or the Terms and Conditions listed under Clause 1.
  • we, Fitbit or a card network provider reasonably suspects fraud;
  • if we are required to do so under any legislation or law, or if required to by a regulatory or government body;
  • if our arrangements with Fitbit regarding Fitbit Pay cease or are suspended; and
  • for any other reason we deem appropriate.

You must tell us straight away if:

  • your card or Fitbit device has been lost or stolen; or
  • you suspect someone else has used your account without your permission or may have access to your Fitbit device or know your security credentials.

You must immediately unlink your card from Fitbit Pay if your Fitbit device is stolen or lost.

It may be possible to make transactions using Fitbit Pay after deleting or uninstalling the Fitbit application on your mobile device. If you no longer wish to use a Hume Bank Card with Fitbit Pay, you should remove your card from Fitbit Pay prior to deleting/uninstalling the Fitbit application on your mobile device.

You can ensure that your Hume Bank Card cannot be used with Fitbit Pay on your Fitbit device by:

  • removing the Fitbit account to which the Hume Bank Card was added in the Fitbit mobile application;
  • undertaking a factory reset of your Fitbit Device; or
  • erasing your Fitbit device on the Fitbit mobile application.

If you fail to comply with any of the requirements stated in this clause, you are taken to have authorised any transaction made using Fitbit Pay on your Fitbit device and as such, the transaction cannot be deemed as an unauthorised transaction.

If your Hume Bank Visa Card registered with Fitbit Pay is lost or stolen, you will still be able to transact using Fitbit Pay while you wait for your new card. If you wish to stop transactions using Fitbit Pay (e.g. when your Fitbit Device is also lost or stolen) you must notify Hume Bank so that Hume Bank can remove the Hume Bank Visa Card from active status in Fitbit Pay. A Hume Bank Visa Card loaded in your Fitbit Pay that has a lost or stolen status will be automatically updated to the new card number once it has been activated.

5. Data Collection and Privacy

You agree that we may exchange information with Fitbit and card scheme networks (i.e. Visa), related to the set up and use of Fitbit Pay. By using Fitbit Pay you agree that:

  • Fitbit can provide us with information, such as your Fitbit device details, for purposes including providing customer support, detecting and managing fraud, and to comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • We can provide Fitbit and card scheme networks with information for the purpose of generally improving Fitbit Pay. Each party’s data collection and handling practices are in accordance with their respective privacy policy (available at fitbit.com/global/us/legal/privacy-policy, visa.com.au)
  • Hume Bank’s privacy policy (available at humebank.com.au/privacy) provides further details regarding the collection and handling of your information.

We are not liable for any losses you may incur, injury or harm you may suffer as a result of Fitbit or a card scheme network’s use of your information. Should you not want to share this information, do not register your Hume Bank card in a digital wallet.

6. Hume Bank's Liability

Hume Bank will not be liable for any loss arising from your use of Fitbit Pay to the extent the loss was caused by:

  • Your fraud;
  • Your failure to adequately secure your device, or protect any passcode used to access your device;
  • Your use of Fitbit Pay or the Fitbit device in a manner not permitted by Fitbit (for example, by obtaining root access to your Fitbit device); or
  • Subject to your rights under the ePayments Code, a reduced level of service caused by matters beyond our reasonable control (for example, those caused by third party software and network providers).

If you fail to comply with any of the requirements stated in this clause, you are taken to have authorised any transaction made using Fitbit Pay on your Fitbit device and the transaction cannot be deemed as an unauthorised transaction.

7. Changes to Terms

We can make changes to these terms and conditions at any time. You acknowledge that we may contact you electronically regarding changes to these terms or this service (e.g. via SMS, email, notifications in app), and that this is considered written notice for the purpose of these terms.  You agree to any such amendments by continuing to keep a Hume Bank card in a Digital Wallet.
