FAQs

Paying for a purchase using your Watch

Before you can use your watch to pay for purchases, you must set up at least one payment card.

  1. Use your device’s buttons and/or touch screen where appropriate to
    a) present the controls menu
    b) then navigate to the Wallet icon.
  2. Select the Wallet icon.
  3. Enter your four-digit passcode.

NOTE: If you enter your passcode incorrectly three times, your wallet locks, and you must reset your passcode in the Garmin Connect Mobile app.

  1. Swipe or press button to change to another payment card if desired
  2. Within 60 seconds, hold your watch near the payment reader, with the watch facing the reader.
    The watch vibrates and will display a green checkmark when it is finished communicating with the reader. The payment is processed using the payment card you selected.

While you are wearing the watch, you can make payments for the rest of the day without entering your passcode again. If you disable heart rate monitoring, remove the watch from your wrist, or 24 hours has elapsed, you must enter the passcode again before making a payment.

Managing Your Garmin Pay Wallet

You can view detailed information about each of your payment cards, and you can activate, deactivate, or delete a card.

  1. From the More page in the Garmin Connect Mobile app, select Garmin Pay
  2. Select a payment card
  3. Select an option:
  • To activate or suspend the card, use the Suspend Card toggle switch. When the card is suspended, you cannot use it to make purchases on your device.
  • To delete the card, use the Trash Can icon. The card is completely deleted from your wallet. If you want to add this card to your wallet in the future, you must enter the card information again.

What if my watch is lost or stolen?

If your watch is lost or stolen, you can Suspend or Delete your card from Garmin Connect Mobile on your phone. These options are available on the Garmin Pay main menu and can be selected without the watch being connected. Reference Managing your Garmin Wallet for instructions. You can also Remove your card from Garmin Pay.

I’m locked out of my wallet

If you enter your passcode incorrectly 3 times, you’ll be locked out of your wallet on the device and asked to set another passcode. However, you will have 3 additional attempts to from the app on your phone. You’ll need to remember your original passcode in order to set the new one.

My device won’t work at the store terminal

Hold your device closer to the terminal to be sure your NFC antenna can make a connection. Tapping/touching your watch face to the terminal is also acceptable.

  • Give it a little time. Sometimes it takes a few seconds for the terminal to connect. Hold your device over the terminal for a few seconds longer.
  • If you just added your card, wait 5-10 minutes. Each time you add a new card, it needs to be activated by the payment card network and the card issuer. Activation can take 5–10 minutes, and during that time, transactions won’t go through.
  • Make sure the store accepts contactless payments and that their terminal is functioning properly.
  • If none of these solutions work, contact Garmin for help

Hume Bank Garmin Pay™ Terms and Conditions

Garmin Pay allows you and additional cardholders to make payment transactions using a Hume Bank Visa Debit or Credit Card loaded onto a compatible Garmin device at participating merchants.

Garmin Pay provides you with an additional way to transact on your linked account.

Hume Bank Garmin Pay™ Terms and Conditions apply each time a Hume Bank card registered on Garmin Pay is used.

1. Agreement to these Terms and Conditions

You agree that you accept these Terms and Conditions by adding your card to Garmin Pay.

These Terms and Conditions apply in addition to:

  • Hume Bank’s Digital Wallet Terms and Conditions;
  • Relevant Terms and Conditions available in Hume Bank’s Product Disclosure Statement;
  • Fees & Charges – Personal Credit cards
  • Terms, Conditions, Fees & Charges for Hume Bank’s Visa Debit Card; and
  • Conditions of Use – Personal and Business Credit Cards.

2. Garmin Pay provided by Garmin

Garmin Pay is provided by Garmin, not by Hume Bank.

Hume Bank is not liable for the use, functionality or availability of Garmin Pay, any Garmin Device or any disruption caused from the availability of contactless merchant terminals or reduced service levels caused by the failure of telecommunications networks.

You must agree to Garmin's terms and conditions in order to register and use Garmin Pay.

3. Using your Hume Bank Card with Garmin Pay

Your card can be registered with Garmin Pay to make contactless payments at participating retailers.

To add your card, you must follow the procedures provided by Hume Bank. In doing so, we may require you to adequately identify yourself via a variety of mechanisms to authenticate your request to register your card with Garmin Pay. If we cannot authenticate your request to our satisfaction or if we suspect that there may be attempted fraud, we may decline the request to add your card to Garmin Pay.

Once your card is registered with Garmin Pay, you can use your Garmin Device and its security settings (such as passcode or biometric data) to authorise transactions on your account.

You need to select your card as the default card in your Digital Wallet to ensure your card is used to complete a transaction. The transaction limits that apply to your card do not change as a result of adding it to Garmin Pay.

Garmin Pay may not be accepted outside of Australia, or at all places where your Hume Bank Card is accepted.

4. Suspension or Termination of Garmin Pay

Hume Bank may suspend or terminate your use of Garmin Pay if:

  • your card is cancelled, blocked or suspended;
  • you breach these Terms and Conditions, or the Terms and Conditions listed under Clause 1.
  • we, Garmin or a card network provider reasonably suspects fraud;
  • if we are required to do so under any legislation or law, or if required to by a regulatory or government body;
  • if our arrangements with Garmin regarding Garmin Pay cease or are suspended; and
  • for any other reason we deem appropriate.

You must tell us straight away if:

  • your card or Garmin device has been lost or stolen; or
  • you suspect someone else has used your account without your permission or may have access to your Garmin device or know your security credentials.

You must immediately unlink your card from Garmin Pay if your Garmin device is stolen or lost.

It may be possible to make transactions using Garmin Pay after deleting or uninstalling the Garmin application on your mobile device. If you no longer wish to use a Hume Bank Card with Garmin Pay, you should remove your card from Garmin Pay prior to deleting/uninstalling the Garmin application on your mobile device.

You can ensure that your Hume Bank Card cannot be used with Garmin Pay on your Garmin device by:

  • removing the Garmin account to which the Hume Bank Card was added in the Garmin mobile application;
  • undertaking a factory reset of your Garmin Device; or
  • erasing your Garmin device on the Garmin mobile application.

If you fail to comply with any of the requirements stated in this clause, you are taken to have authorised any transaction made using Garmin Pay on your Garmin device and as such, the transaction cannot be deemed as an unauthorised transaction.

If your Hume Bank Visa Card registered with Garmin Pay is lost or stolen, you will still be able to transact using Garmin Pay while you wait for your new card. If you wish to stop transactions using Garmin Pay (e.g. when your Garmin Device is also lost or stolen) you must notify Hume Bank so that Hume Bank can remove the Hume Bank Visa Card from active status in Garmin Pay. A Hume Bank Visa Card loaded in your Garmin Pay that has a lost or stolen status will be automatically updated to the new card number once it has been activated.

5. Data Collection and Privacy

You agree that we may exchange information with Garmin and card scheme networks (i.e. Visa), related to the set up and use of Garmin Pay. By using Garmin Pay you agree that:

  • Garmin can provide us with information, such as your Garmin device details, for purposes including providing customer support, detecting and managing fraud, and to comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • We can provide Garmin and card scheme networks with information for the purpose of generally improving Garmin Pay. Each party’s data collection and handling practices are in accordance with their respective privacy policy (available at Garmin.com/global/us/legal/privacy-policy, visa.com.au)

Hume Bank’s privacy policy (available at humebank.com.au/privacy) provides further details regarding the collection and handling of your information.

We are not liable for any losses you may incur, injury or harm you may suffer as a result of Garmin or a card scheme network’s use of your information. Should you not want to share this information, do not register your Hume Bank card in a digital wallet.

6. Hume Bank's Liability

Hume Bank will not be liable for any loss arising from your use of Garmin Pay to the extent the loss was caused by:

  • Your fraud;
  • Your failure to adequately secure your device, or protect any passcode used to access your device;
  • Your use of Garmin Pay or the Garmin device in a manner not permitted by Garmin (for example, by obtaining root access to your Garmin device); or
  • Subject to your rights under the ePayments Code, a reduced level of service caused by matters beyond our reasonable control (for example, those caused by third party software and network providers).

If you fail to comply with any of the requirements stated in this clause, you are taken to have authorised any transaction made using Garmin Pay on your Garmin device and the transaction cannot be deemed as an unauthorised transaction.

7. Changes to Terms

We can make changes to these terms and conditions at any time. You acknowledge that we may contact you electronically regarding changes to these terms or this service (e.g. via SMS, email, notifications in app), and that this is considered written notice for the purpose of these terms.  You agree to any such amendments by continuing to keep a Hume Bank card in a Digital Wallet.
