About the role

The Risk & Compliance Business Partner for Finance and Credit is responsible for ensuring that Finance and Credit Risks are managed effectively, in line with Hume Bank’s Risk Management Frameworks, associated policies and overall risk management strategy and appetite.

You will partner closely with the Finance, Lending and Credit teams to help identify and manage risks, and compliance activities, as well as conducting Line 2 assurance activities to monitor the effectiveness of key controls. This role also supports Line 2 accountabilities across key projects and initiatives within the Hume Bank’s Finance and Credit portfolios, which may include deployment of new processes, products and technologies.

While it is preferrable that the role is based at our Head Office in Albury, NSW, the role can be based remotely in Melbourne, accessing our CBD based office space and with some Working from Home, under a hybrid work model. Travel to our Head Office in Albury, NSW may be required from time to time.

What you can expect

Reporting to the Head of Operational Risk and Compliance, you will:

  • Support and advise on financial and credit risk and compliance assessments and provide advice on managing them, including implementation of policies, procedures and tools in line with relevant strategies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor upcoming legislative changes, external environment and regulator sentiment to ensure the business is ahead of the curve regarding emerging risks and compliance changes.
  • Review capital structure and adequacy against applicable regulatory capital ratios and requirements, including providing Risk input into ICAAP processes.
  • Assess liquidity and market risk levels by applying a risk based approach to observe risk taking activities.
  • Coordinate finance and credit risk related regulatory examinations and communication, conduct reviews to identify possible risks and provide recommendations to address the control weakness, and monitor the implementation progress of the remedial actions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to drive positive and proactive risk and compliance engagement and governance.
  • Report on all significant financial risk trends, observed changes, performance, early warning indicators, and identification of risk through regular and ad hoc reporting.
  • Apply your broad knowledge and expertise in Risk and Compliance to collaborate with other Risk and Compliance Business Partners and provide cross functional support to other risk portfolios as required.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive work experience in the financial services/consulting/treasury and audit/risk field.
  • Certification in financial / credit management or risk management e.g. CFA, FRM etc
  • Sound knowledge financial and credit risks including liquidity, market, counterparty, etc.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of external factors relevant to financial services
  • Understanding of ASIC, APRA, AUSTRAC and/or other regulatory requirements and risk management disciplines, tools, methods and techniques.
  • Ability to develop a strong understanding of Hume Bank’s finance and credit products and processes to assess and provide risk and compliance advice to stakeholders
