About the role

As the Payroll and Reporting Manager at Hume Bank, you’ll lead the end to end payroll process ensuring compliance with relevant awards, legislation, and enterprise agreements. As the senior escalation point for complex payroll issues, you will ensure our people are paid accurately, fairly, and on time.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in reporting and workforce insights by providing data that supports strategic decision making across the Finance, People & Culture, and the Executive team.

With one direct report, it’s an excellent opportunity for those looking to step into people leadership or further develop their team management skills in a supportive environment.

This is a full-time permanent position based at our Head Office in Albury, NSW. Flexible working arrangements, such as Working from Home are available when residing in the Albury area.

What you can expect

  • Manage and oversee the end to end payroll function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
  • Maintain and enhance payroll systems, records, and reporting.
  • Provide expert advice on payroll, superannuation, taxation, and leave entitlements.
  • Partner with leaders and the People team to support workforce planning and remuneration frameworks.
  • Drive continuous improvement in payroll processes, controls, and employee experience.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end payroll in a medium to large organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, and payroll compliance requirements.
  • Highly experience in remuneration and benefits space.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (Micropay and ConnX experience highly regarded).
  • Excellent attention to detail, reporting and analytical skills, and the ability to problem-solve.
  • A proactive, collaborative style with the ability to engage and build trust at all levels

Our process

  • Once the role is closed, we review all applications against the requirements, creating a shortlist for further review.
  • If your application is successful, you may receive an initial screening call to further assess your suitability, before being invited to an interview.
  • We conduct two rounds of interviews, with the first interview being held with the reporting manager and a member of our People Team. You may be invited back to a shorter second-round interview with the head of the department.
  • The final stage is to complete some quick compliance checks, before (hopefully) receiving an offer.
