Important changes to bank cheques and cheque books

To align with the Australian Government’s plan to transition away from cheques, we will be taking proactive steps starting from the 2nd of December 2024.

What does this mean for you?

From the 2nd of December 2024:

  • Replacement cheque books will no longer be issued automatically and
  • Bank cheques will no longer be available via iBank
  • New accounts opened will no longer have an option to access a cheque book

If you need a bank cheque or a new cheque book for an existing account, simply request one by visiting one of our 15 branches or calling our Contact Centre at 1300 004 863.

Why is this change happening?

In alignment with the Australian Government’s plan to phase out cheques entirely by 2030, Hume Bank is supporting customers in transitioning to modern, more efficient payment methods.
